Pfizer vaccine

January 18, 2021

We would like to say a huge thank you to Pickering and Kirkbymoorside GP surgeries for all their help in vaccinating residents and staff. The majority of our staff received the second Pfizer vaccine on 6th and 7th January 2021 and the majority of residents had the first vaccine on 31st December 2020, with the second vaccination due 12 weeks later.

The whole process was very well organised and went smoothly thanks to the help of everyone at the GP surgeries.

Visitor Room

October 2, 2020

So residents and families can visit in a safe environment we have installed a visitor room.  There is a separate entrance / exit for visitors, a divide across the room and a microphone and speaker system are in place to support anyone who is hard of hearing. This room is ensuring that friends and relatives can visit their loved ones whilst minimising any risk of the transmission of Covid-19.

Doll Therapy

February 12, 2020

At our recent dementia workshop we learnt more about the use of doll therapy in supporting people living with dementia. Our Deputy Manager has kindly sourced a Moses basket and dolls and we are looking forward to seeing if this helps any residents. More information on doll therapy is available via Dementia UK https://www.dementiauk.org/…/complementary-a…/doll-therapy/…

The use of dolls can bring great benefits to people living with dementia. It involves making a doll available to the person to hold or to sit with.

Aromatherapy

February 6, 2020

As part of our service we arrange for Bridget from See Change to come to the home every month to give Aromatherapy hand massages to residents. It is very relaxing and smells lovely. Alison Keith Complementary Therapist also visits the home on a monthly basis providing massage and reki. The cost of these services are covered by the Home.
