We have recently moved from paper Medication Administration Records (MAR) to an electronic system. Both the Pharmacy and us have real time access to the same “one person record”, medication rounds and management are easier and the risk of human error is reduced. The Android based system has an app to ensure the “6 rights in medication administration” using photographic identification of residents and medication, further supported by 2D barcodes for each item.
We also have access to the “Home Manager” reporting system which gives real time status reports to Managers alerting them to points such as missed doses, low stock, round duration”.
Dare we say that Christmas preparations have begun!! Making Christmas cake today. We are also looking forward to Nawton School children visiting tomorrow to read with residents.
Some residents enjoyed pumpkin carving and the staff enjoyed a few too many Halloween sweets! The carved pumpkins were displayed in our courtyard so everyone could see them. Now Halloween is over the pumpkins are going to be fed to Cilla and Lulu, our resident sheep!
We did a spot of indoor gardening last week as it was too cold and wet to be outside!
It certainly feels autumn is well and truly here. A few residents enjoyed an Autumn stroll today. Don’t forget the clocks change this weekend!
